May 4 is known as Star Wars Day because of its closeness to the iconic Star Wars phrase uttered by Obi-Wan Kenobi to Luke Skywalker and countless Star Wars fans to each other, followed by a retainer-muted chuckle and high-five that likely missed.
Los Angeles chose another day to celebrate the Star Wars universe—May 25, the anniversary of the first film in the series. The annual celebration was first marked in 2007.
