Authorities are trying to find out who left a dead fish wrapped in a political campaign sign on the doorstep of a defeated Long Island politician.
Islip Town Councilman Christopher Bodkin was on vacation when the package arrived. His son found it on Nov. 8.
The politician says he is upset and considers the act a threat.
Bodkin was among board members voting for town layoffs, an action that sparked protests. He lost his re-election bid Nov. 3.
His son, Christian Bodkin, says police took photographs and kept the packaging as evidence, but left behind the 2-foot fish. He says he threw it into the woods, where it apparently was eaten by animals.
