Oklahoma St rolls Purdue in Heart of Dallas Bowl

DALLAS (AP) — Clint Chelf threw three of Oklahoma State’s five touchdown passes and the Cowboys shook off a disappointing Big 12 finish by dominating Purdue 58-14 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on Tuesday. The Cowboys, a year removed from a Fiesta Bowl win that capped the best season in school history, forced five turnovers and had another short touchdown drive after a 64-yard punt return from Josh Stewart.



Regular season winners don’t always make champions

DENVER (AP) — The Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons, who tied for the league’s best record at 13-3, are well aware of one of the NFL’s biggest truisms: more often than not, the regular season is for suckers. Over the last decade, just two of the 13 teams that had the best regular season record – or tied for the best mark – went on to win the Super Bowl: the `02 Buccaneers and the `03 Patriots. The last seven teams to enter the playoffs with the best record bowed out before they could put their fingerprints on the Lombardi Trophy and revel in a rain of confetti.



Playboy Hugh Hefner marries his ‘runaway bride’

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hugh Hefner is celebrating the new year as a married man once again. The 86-year-old Playboy magazine founder exchanged vows with his “runaway bride,” Crystal Harris, at a private Playboy Mansion ceremony on New Year’s Eve. Harris, a 26-year-old “Playmate of the Month” in 2009, broke off a previous engagement to Hefner just before they were to be married in 2011

Thieves break into Paris’ flagship Apple store

PARIS (AP) — Masked and armed thieves used the New Year’s Eve fete to rob the flagship Apple store in Paris. The French press reported that up to (EURO)1 million ($1.3 million) in goods were stolen at the store selling products such as Apple’s iPhones and iPads behind the Paris Opera house, a figure police would not immediately confirm.
