A traffic stop in Hempstead led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Roosevelt man for a half-dozen robberies in seven weeks on Tuesday night, Nassau police said. 
A Hempstead Police officer pulled over Kalyn Jones for several traffic violations on Fulton Street and a handgun under the front passenger seat at 10:35 p.m., police said. After he was taken to the 3rd Precinct for processing, police said Jones was responsible for six robberies, including two instances in which he allegedly robbed two stores in one day.
Robbery Squad detectives said Jones robbed Uniondale Liquors on Uniondale Avenue in Uniondale on Nov. 12 at 9:03 p.m. and then the Sunoco gas station on Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead at 9:58 p.m. He also robbed the Golden Crust Restaurant on Greenwich Street in Hempstead at 8:07 p.m. on Dec. 2, police said.
Then on Dec. 22, he allegedly robbed the 7-Eleven on Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead at 11:09 p.m. and the Dunkin Donuts on Old Country Road in Mineola at 11:40 p.m. He also robbed the Fast Break Convenience Store on Merrick Avenue in Merrick at 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 23, police said.
Jones was charged with criminal possession of a weapon as well as six counts of robbery and six counts of criminal use of a weapon. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
