Body Found in Freeport Vehicle Fire

An unidentified victim was found dead in a Freeport vehicle fire outside of a Jewish temple on the Friday night that Chanukah started, Nassau police said. fire2-300x225

Freeport Fire Department firefighters responded to the rear of B’nai Israel Temple on North Bayview Avenue to extinguish the flames when they discovered a body in the unknown-model Dodge at 7 p.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the Nassau County Medical Examiners Office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The victim’s race, sex and identity are unknown, according to Homicide Squad detectives.

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
