Fire in Amityville Shopping Center Takes Hours To Extinguish

A fire at an Amityville shopping center took nearly seven hours to extinguish.

Firefighters from seven Long Island fire departments responded to the blaze, which was reported at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. It was brought under control at about 11 a.m.

The shopping center is located at Montauk Highway and Route 110. It is not clear how many shops were destroyed. There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
