Michigan Oil Spill: 840,000 Gallons of Oil Leak Into Talmadge Creek

by Jaclyn Gallucci on July 27, 2010

Kalamazoo River, Michigan

Another day, another oil spill.

A Michigan pipeline company says 840,000 gallons of oil leaked Monday into a creek that feeds into the Kalamazoo River.

JULY 28 MICHIGAN OIL SPILL UPDATE

The 30-inch pipeline carries about 8 million gallons of oil per day from Indiana to Ontario.

Canadian pipeline company Enbridge Energy Partners confirmed the leak and officials have warned residents not to swim or fish in the Kalamazoo River until further notice. They say the spill has not impacted drinking water.

Two homes near the leak have been evacuated.

The Michigan spill is the latest of three major oil spills that have occurred this year, including the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico (Spill Update: July 27).

An oil spill as a result of a pipeline explosion at a port in China reached 165 square miles as of last week forcing nearby beaches to close.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
