CMJ Music Marathon 2010: The Acts To See

by Long Island Press on October 15, 2010

Tuesday, Oct. 19 | Wednesday, Oct. 20 | Thursday, Oct. 21 | Friday, Oct. 22 | Saturday, Oct. 23

Neutral Uke Hotel

THU 10.21 [Click for full line-up]

Neutral Uke Hotel @ Cameo Gallery, 9-9:30 p.m.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery—add a ukulele to that, and flattery is taken to new levels of awesome. That’s exactly what Shawn Fogel does with Neutral Uke Hotel, a project that exists solely to bring alive a ukulele version of Neutral Milk Hotel’s wildly popular concept album In The Aeroplane Over The Sea in its entirety.

The Blow @ Music Hall of Williamsburg, 10:30-11 p.m.
The Blow hit the CMJ circuit a few years back with an unusually stripped-down live set. Formerly a duo, the Portland, Ore. outfit is known for mixing minimalist electro with catchy melodies and live sets that border on performance art. Despite the departure of Jona Bechtolt, The Blow drifts on. This time around, vocalist Khaela Maricich will tackle CMJ solo.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
