Chase Ends in Five Arrests on Gun, Drug Charges

by Long Island Press on February 28, 2010

Five individuals were arrested on gun and drug charges after a police chase following a shooting outside of a Levittown night club early Saturday morning, Nassau police said.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired outside of Ikon Lounge on Hempstead Turnpike and upon arrival they found spent .40- and .45-caliber shell casings at 12:54 a.m. The officers were tipped that the five individuals had fled westbound on Hempstead Turnpike on to the Wantagh Parkway heading south in a Cadillac Escalade and a BMW.

The BMW was stopped while speeding on the Southern State Parkway. The driver, 27-year-old Korrin Walton of Freeport, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic violations.

Shortly later, officers stopped the Cadillac Escalade in Roosevelt and passenger Mikis Brim, 28, of Roosevelt, got out and motioned towards his waist. He was found to have a gun in his waistband, police said.

After a struggle with officers, Brim was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal and possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. The driver, 31-year-old Ronald Scott of Roosevelt, and a passenger, 26-year-old Antonio Baker of Roosevelt, were both charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Kimberly Veasey, 23, of Roosevelt, was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The guns recovered from the incident were a .40-caliber Taurus and a .45-caliber Vickers. They were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.

Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
