A 25-year-old Glen Cove man who claimed that a 12-year-old Queens girl was his girlfriend was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison.
Edward Robinson had been convicted of first-degree rape last month in Queens County court.
Prosecutors said Robinson picked up the victim from her Queens home on Jan. 11, 2009, and took her to the Jamaica Inn Motel where the two had sexual intercourse.
At the time, he told the victim that he was 17 years old when, in fact, he was 24 years old.
“Claiming to be her ‘boyfriend,’ the jury rejected the notion and convicted him for what he is: a child molester,” said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown .
