A judge has postponed the sentencing of one of New York’s biggest dealers in tax-free tobacco.
Rodney Morrison had been scheduled for sentencing Friday in Central Islip.
He was convicted of racketeering for trafficking in contraband cigarettes on the Poospatuck Indian Reservation on eastern Long Island. He was acquitted of murder, arson and robbery in a 2008 trial.
U.S. District Judge Denis R. Hurley delayed the sentencing until Jan. 7. He received some last-minute demands for restitution in the case from state, county and city tax officials.
Morrison’s sentencing was originally scheduled for Sept. 25.
