A Northport man was sentenced Wednesday to two to six years in prison for killing a construction worker in a Fort Salonga hit-and-run crash last year.
John Pappias had pleaded guilty in Suffolk County court to leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He also received a six-month sentence for pleading guilty to a drunken driving charge he received while out on bail.
Prosecutors said Pappias was driving on Route 25 when he hit Victor Schultz while the victim and a coworker were working the overnight shift for Intercounty Paving at 1:35 a.m. Oct. 28, 2011.
Schultz, 49, of Massapequa Park, was pronounced dead at the scene. His coworker was not injured.
