A Louisiana lawmaker and a hurricane recovery center are seeking to bring a bit of holiday cheer to victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey.
State Rep. Jared Brossett and St. Paul’s Homecoming Center are asking the public’s help in filling a tractor-trailer with new or gently-used items that will travel Dec. 15 to Bread of Life Church on Long Island for distribution to Sandy survivors in Brooklyn, Coney Island, Staten Island and the Jersey Shore.
Brossett, D-New Orleans, said Tuesday items being sought include toys, bed linen, towels, blankets, diapers, baby formula, strollers, books, games, household appliances, cleaning supplies, sweaters and coats.
Donations can be dropped off through Dec. 14 at St. Paul’s Homecoming Center, St. Paul’s Episcopal School, Rouse’s Mid-City and Audubon Zoo.
