The Long Island Rail Road is celebrating its 175th anniversary in a, well, small way, with a Lionel scale replica of a LIRR train.
The famous train maker has began shipping the limited edition 1/48 scale model of the railroad’s M7 trains to hobby shops.
Features include working headlights and interior lights, tiny passenger seats, and even “Watch The Gap” decals on all the train doors, which open and close manually.
The train model retails for about $300.
Says Lionel Chief Executive Jerry Calabrese: “They are in every way the image of a real (LIRR) car.”
