An Elmont man has been accused of fatally shooting a 50-year-old man with whom he had an ongoing dispute early Friday morning.
Nassau County police arrested Rodmon Green and charge him with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.
Police said the 40-year-old man shot and killed Jerome Steward, also of Elmont, when an argument between the two escalated and the two exchanged gunfire on Roquette Avenue at 3:35 a.m.
Steward was struck and taken by a friend to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide Squad detectives apprehended Green after he fled the scene on foot. No other injuries were reported.
Green will be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
He was released from prison in April after serving time a weapons conviction, records show.
