Open wide, Long Island. Here comes another burger joint.
Shake Shack will be among the stores coming to The Gallery at Westbury Plaza, a 330,000-sqaure foot mall slated to open late next year on Old Country Road between The Mall at The Source and Roosevelt Field Mall.
Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, a New York City-based restaurant firm, announced Tuesday what will be the first Shake Shack east of the city line.
“Shake Shack is a modern day ‘roadside’ burger stand known for its delicious all-natural burgers, hot dogs, seasonal frozen custard, beer, wine and more,” the company said in a news release.
The first Shake Shack opened in Madison Square Park in 2004. Four more later opened in Manhattan and they’ve since been working their way east with one in downtown Brooklyn and one at Citifield in Flushing, the home of the New York Mets.
They also opened locations in Miami, Connecticut, Saratoga, Washington, D.C. and Kuwait.
The original outdoor Shake Shack has proven so wildly popular that the company has a live web feed so patrons can check how long the lines are before arrival.
