Wilson Holloway died from cancer at the age of 22.
The 22-year-old was a former University of Tulsa football player. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in March 2008.
He played in six games in 2008 spending most of his playing time on special teams after undergoing cancer treatment that spring.
The cancer returned only a few months later and Holloway headed back to rehab for chemotherapy treatments. He played in the UCF game during his second round of treatments but in 2009 Holloway ended his football career.
Throughout his time at the University of Tulsa, Holloway was named a recipient of the Wilma Rudolph Student-Athlete Achievement Award in June 2010. He was named the 2008 FedEx Orange Bowl/Football Writers Association of America Courage Award winner.
