A 48-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car in her hometown of Hicksville on Saturday night.

Nassau County police said Leema Karnati was crossing Newbridge Road when she was hit by a southbound Lincoln near the corner of Elmira Street at 6 p.m.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead a half hour later.

Second Squad detectives found no apparent criminality but the investigation is continuing.

The driver was not charged.
