A father and son have been accused of kidnapping a man and forcing him to drive them around at gunpoint for nearly two hours later in Middle Island on Sunday night.
The 24-year-old man was getting into his car on Wilson Avenue when Sheldon Davis, 40, and his 22-year-old son, Latif, made the demand at about 4 p.m., police said. All three are from Coram.
The alleged kidnappers ordered the victim to pull into the Plaza 16 shopping center parking lot on Middle Country Road in Coram, police said.
The victim escaped and called 911 when the suspects got out of the vehicle and went into the Dominican Star Bodega, police said. Officers apprehended the duo at the bodega shortly later, police said.
Both men were charged with kidnapping and menacing. Latif was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.
