A West Hempstead couple was arrested Saturday for allegedly robbing another couple they had invited for dinner at gunpoint.
Police say at 5:50 p.m. 52-year-old Albert Hendrickson and his wife, 50-year-old Darlene Schunk-Hendrickson invited two of their friends for dinner at their home when a verbal argument ensued between the two women and then became physical.
Schunk-Hendrickson tried to take a gold-colored necklace, which also held a ring from the victim’s neck, according to police. The victim then placed the necklace around her 42-year-old husbands’ neck for safe keeping when police say Schunk-Hendrickson ripped the necklace from his neck and kept the ring.
When the victims’ demanded the ring back, police say Albert Hendrickson pointed a shotgun at the victims, who were then able to flee the home and call 911.
Upon police arrival, the couple refused to exit the home which lead to additional police assistance and the Nassau County Hostage Negotiation Team.
At approximately 11:48 p.m. the Hendrickson’s were taken into custody and charged with robbery and criminal use of a firearm. Schunk-Hendrickson is additionally charged with criminal contempt and resisting arrest.
