A New York City man has been accused of trying to set fire to his ex-girlfriend’s Freeport home two days in a row this week.
Nassau County police said Patrick Mitchell first set fire to door of the victim’s apartment on Gaffing Place at 5:53 a.m. Monday.
Freeport village firefighters extinguished the flames, which damaged the door and the hallway.
The 43-year-old Bronx man returned 4 a.m. Tuesday, when he again ignited a fire in the same spot, police said.
Freeport village police apprehended him at the Long Island Rail Road station after an alarm went off, authorities said.
Firefighters again put out the fire. There were no reported injuries.
Arson Bomb Squad detectives charged Mitchell with arson and burglary. He will be arraigned Wednesday at First District in Hempstead.
