Police said that the apartment of Colorodo shooting suspect James Holmes is booby trapped, and have evacuated five surrounding buildings as a precaution.
Holmes allegedly killed at least 12 people and wounded 50 others when he opened fire inside of a crowded movie theater during the midnight showing of the latest Batman movie early Friday morning in Aurora.
At the time of his arrest, police say that Holmes indicated that there were explosives in his apartment. Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates told the Associated Press that FBI agents and police used a hook and ladder fire truck and a 12-foot pole with a camera attached to it to look inside the 24-year-old’s third floor apartment.
Oates called the apartment pictures disturbing and said the devices look sophisticated. Bomb technicians are currently working on how to disarm the explosive material.
Holmes is said to have not resisted arrest. He was found in the parking lot of the movie theater. Witnesses said that he entered the theater where the Dark Knight Rises was playing in a gas mask and threw canisters of unknown gas before he opened fire. Many moviegoers said that they thought it was a stunt at first.
