Federal prosecutor say a Long Island doctor slipped painkiller prescriptions under his doormat and received cash from a man who later pleaded guilty to shooting people in a pharmacy.
Newsday reports the details about Eric Jacobson and David Laffer came to light as prosecutors argued the doctor should not be released on bail.
Jacobson was one of three doctors arrested as part of a pill crackdown. Prosecutors say he left the prescriptions under the mat where Laffer and his wife picked them up in exchange for cash.

Jacobson’s attorneys could not be reached for comment but have maintained he has done nothing wrong.
Laffer is serving life in prison after pleading guilty to murder in the June 2011 holdup at Haven Drugs in Medford that left four people dead.
