Nassau County police have arrested a suspect wanted for fatally shooting a 47-year-old man in Hempstead last week.
Homicide Squad detectives charged Herber Guzman with second-degree murder.
Police said the 40-year-old East Meadow man shot Stanley Cater on Marvin Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. on April 26.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired found him suffering from a bullet wound in the street. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died an hour later.
Records show Guzman was previously arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and petit larceny. Those charges are still pending.
Guzman will be arraigned on the murder charge Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
