The lawyer for the family of a 7-year-old Lido Beach girl killed in a wrong-way drunken-driving crash has reached a settlement in a lawsuit against the convicted driver and the company that owned the limousine they were riding in.
Attorney Christopher McGrath declined to disclose the settlement amount. He told Newsday there was no way the family could ever be compensated for what they went through.
Donald Henderson, the lawyer for the driver, Martin Heidgen, told the paper the settlement was for $1.3 million.
Katie Flynn and her family were returning home from a wedding in July 2005 when Heidgen crashed into their limousine. Their chauffer also was killed.
Heidgen was convicted of depraved indifference murder and was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison.
