Rapper Flo Rida was arrested early Thursday for driving under the influence, but not before fans pleaded with police to let him go.
Officers spotted Tramar Dillard (the rapper’s real name) driving his 2008 red and black Bugatti Veyron erratically in Miami Beach at around 3:45 a.m., according to an arrest report. Miami Beach Police said that the 31-year-old had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred his speech.
The report stated Dillard failed a field sobriety test and asked police to just let him walk home, saying “officers, I can’t do this. I don’t feel I can walk a straight line. I had a few drinks. Let’s try another test. I live on the other side of the bridge. I can make it home.”
His blood alcohol limit was 0.185, which is more than twice the legal limit.
A crowd of fans that gathered at the scene begged police not to arrest him and a few even offered to drive the rapper home.
The officers were not sympathetic to the pleas and arrested Dillard.
He was charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license after failing to pay a traffic ticket, which officers learned after they ran his license through the system.
He posted $2,000 bond and was released Thursday afternoon, less than 12 hours after his arrest, TMZ reported.
The celebrity website also stated that the rapper was at a birthday party at Dream nightclub before he was pulled over in his $1.7 million car on the way home.
Flo Rida first became popular in early 2008 with his club hit “Low.”
