There will be an obvious home court advantage for Griffin, whose fans might influence the judges as he attempts to amaze all those in attendance.
Griffin has been his own human highlight film this season, dunking on anybody waiting to become a picture perfect poster for Griffin’s fans.
Some of his most memorable dunks came against the New York Knicks who were unable to stop Griffin when Knicks visited the Staples Center earlier this season.
The dunk nobody will ever forget came when he jumped in the air with Knicks center Timofey Mozgov lazily putting up his elbows in defense as Griffin slammed a dunk over the rookie from Russia. Of course, Griffin barely touched the rim, if he did at all, but it was still one of the most amazing sights in the first half of the NBA season.
Griffin also embarrassed Knicks forward Danilo Gallinari on a fast break, when he did a spin move to get away from Gallinari, and then ducked over him.
The other contestants who will try to keep up with the second-year rookie is Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibaka, Washington Wizards’ JaVale McGee and the Toronto Raptors’ DeMar DeRozan.
The dunk contest will start at 8 p.m. on TNT.
