In Germany, women will no longer have to take off their high heels and achingly walk barefoot through the streets after a night at the discotheque. Student Isabella Fendt came up with Ballerina To Go—vending machines outside of clubs that sell disposable flat shoes. The machines have already been installed in four clubs in Munich, and the shoes, which cost 7 Euros, come with a bag to put the high heels in…
We don’t know how many times we have to say it until people understand: EVERYTHING you post on the Internet can be seen by ANYONE. A 23-year-old Israeli man and his buddies apparently need a refresher. The man was charged with speeding and reckless endangerment after police saw a video on Facebook that showed him driving 260 kph (160 mph) along a coastal highway where the speed limit was 90. His two friends were charged with encouraging a crime since they were pushing him to go faster and were filming as he drove. The video did not show when the incident occurred or even what car he was driving, but the speedometer was enough to get them in trouble…
Oregon police had a run-in with Grandma Dynamite when they stopped Marcia Brandon while she was going 110 mph in a 55-mph zone. The 82-year-old said she was on her way to an appointment, and didn’t realize just how fast she was going. The trooper wasn’t too sympathetic to her story—she was given a $1,103 ticket…
Whistle while you work—at your own risk. A Massachusetts town hall custodian was allegedly hit on the back of the head with a roll of toilet paper for doing just that. Local police say 55-year-old Allen Kerner was using the bathroom when he heard the custodian whistling as he change toilet paper rolls. Kerner then is said to have struck him while he was in a stall, yelled at him and fled. He was apprehended by police shortly after. He faces an assault and battery charge. We give him a crankiness charge as well—what’s wrong with a little whistling?…
Project Prevention, an American charity, is offering to pay drug and alcohol addicts in Britain 200 Pounds to be sterilized and $300 to addicts in the U.S to use long-term or permanent birth control. The organization, set up by Barbara Harris aims to reduce the number or babies born with drug and alcohol addictions. A 38-year-old heroin addict became the organization’s first British client. However, the idea has been met with a lot of criticism, as people are saying it is taking advantage of individuals when they are at their lowest. Critics are also concerned the money given to these people will just end up being used to buy drugs, which will only add to the problem…
A south Florida man won $650,000 after a stripper’s heel shattered his eye socket in 2008. The Cheetah Club’s insurance company agreed earlier this month to pay for Michael Ireland’s injury. The dancer said she was walking on the bar and swung around after she felt someone touch her. The metal heel from her platform shoe went into Ireland’s eye socket and shattered it. Ireland said he needed extensive surgery and has had eye problems since the incident…
