Penthouse was created in London in 1965, and it quickly became known as a dirtier, more graphic Playboy. Vanessa Williams lost her Miss America title, after she posed for the magazine. Guccione also published Viva, which featured naked men, and Omni magazine, which was tech based. He helped his son, Bob Jr., publish Spin magazine, but later decided to shut it down, forcing his son to fund other funding.
Guccione was married four times, and had a daughter, Tonina, from his first marriage and three sons, Bob Jr., Tony, and Nick, and a daughter, Nina, from his second marriage. His wife April said services will be private.
