An Oceanside man was arrested for selling oxycodone Friday afternoon, Nassau County police said.
Narcotics detectives observed Matthew Potts, 22, sell drugs to an unidentified person in the street on Ayers Place and Sunnybrook Drive. When detectives approached Potts and identified themselves, he shoved pills into his mouth in an effort to destroy the evidence.
Detectives ordered Potts to spit out the pills. He refused to spit them out and punched one of the detectives in the head. He continued to fight, attempting to bite the detectives, until he was subdued by backup officers.Detectives recovered the oxycodone pills.
No officers were injured.
Potts was arrested on several charges and will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead Saturday.
