The Yankees are going A-Rod-less for Saturday’s game after the third basemen was hit by a ball during batting practice.
Rodriguez has a bruise on his lower leg near the base of his shin, the Yankees said. He is out of the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Boston Red Sox.
He is scheduled to undergo X-rays.
Rodriguez, who hit career homer No. 600 on Wednesday against Toronto, was hit near third base when Lance Berkman’s lined a hard grounder more than two hours before the start of the game.
Rodriguez walked toward a protective screen in short center field and was down on the ground for a couple of minutes while medical personnel attended to him.
He was able to walk off the field on his own.
