A Ronkonkoma man was arrested Tuesday for a January hit and run accident on the Sagtikos Parkway that involved three cars, including a New York State police vehicle, state police said.
According to state police, while traveling on the northbound side of the Sagtikos Parkway near Pine Aire Drive on January 22, a green Honda rear-ended a blue Ford, which caused it to rear-end a marked State Police vehicle. The Honda then left the scene, but not before witnesses jotted down its license plate number. They provided it to police.
The license plate owner information led police to 15 Garden Court in Ronkonkoma, where state Troopers interviewed Raymond Winter, 46. Winter allowed Troopers to inspect a green Honda in his backyard and provided them with identification, police said.
Troopers soon came across a traffic ticket in the name of Winter’s 38-year-old brother, Christopher, of Mattituck, and discovered he had used his younger sibling’s named when he received the ticket in 2009.
Winter admitted his involvement in the hit and run accident and fraudulently using his brother Christopher’s name when he was issued the traffic ticket, police said. He was arrested for Criminal Impersonation and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries, both A Misdemeanors.
