A three-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 32-year-old man in Mastic Beach on Monday morning.
Suffolk police said Jose Gonzales of East Patchogue was driving a GMC van southbound on Mastic Road when he rear-ended a school bus that was stopped in traffic near the intersection of Clinton Avenue at 6:45 a.m.
The bus then struck the back of another school bus that was also waiting in traffic.
Gonzales was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.
The bus drivers were taken to the same hospital for treatment of head and neck injuries. There were no students on the buses.
Seventh Squad detectives are continuing their investigation.
