Ex-teacher from LI Cleared of Teen-sex Charge in CT

by Associated Press on October 29, 2009

A Connecticut jury has acquitted a former high school teacher of charges he had sex with a teenage student in his Milford apartment in 2003.

Peter Eramo Jr. says he will now try to put his life back together. gavel-300x300Eramo says he’s moved back in with his parents in Mineola and works at a pet store. He says he can’t find any other jobs, despite having a master’s degree from Columbia University.

The former Westport, Conn., teacher was acquitted Wednesday of second-degree sexual assault. The girl, who was 17, made the allegations in 2006.

Eramo soundlessly mouthed “thank you” to the jurors and bowed to them after the verdict.
