Storm Claims Life In Bay Shore

by Michael Patrick Nelson on March 14, 2010

In this photo, submitted by Stephen Takacs, the Nor'easter soaking Long Island has caused trees to fall on wires in Malverne. The storm has caused damage across both counties, including the death of a 73-year-old woman in Bay Shore, who was killed by a falling tree.

It seems this storm has claimed at least one life on Long Island.

Julia Hughes, 73, was reportedly walking to her car after leaving a family party on Lanier Lane in Bay Shore when a tree fell on her. The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 13.

Hughes, a Brooklyn resident, was transported to Southside Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death. The investigation is continuing.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
