A 57-year-old old Deer Park man died when his sport utility vehicle overturned on the Long Island Expressway in Plainview early Saturday morning. 
Nassau police said Vernon Jordan was driving his Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound when he struck the right guardrail, crossed over the roadway and then struck the center median, which caused the truck to flip over near exit 48 at 1:05 a.m.
Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene 15 minutes later. He was taken to the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy as the cause of the crash was not immediately known. Second Squad detectives impounded the Jeep for a safety check.
