Menorah Damaged in Holbrook Hate Crime

The Hate Crimes Unit of the Suffolk County Police Department has reported an ongoing investigation concerning damage done to a menorah at 11:48 p.m. yesterday in Holbrook.

According to the report, the menorah outside Friendly Drug Store, 1036 Main St., was knocked down. The incident was reported by the store’s owner, who is also the president of the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce.

Surveillance cameras previously installed in undisclosed areas caught the hate crime on tape.

Detectives are working on identifying and apprehending the culprits and ask that anyone with information concerning the menorah incident call the Hate Crimes Unit at 631-852-6323, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
