Delaware Man Charged With Trying to Lure Minor

Nassau police accused a Delaware man of sending child porn and trying to meet a person he believed was a minor who he was talking with online between February and April. arrest1-300x2252

James Peterson, 36, of Wilmington, Delaware, had numerous online conversations with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old but was actually a detective with the Internet Child Exploitation Section.

Peterson sent child pornography, enticed the “child” to runaway to meet him for sex in New York City in May, but police said that Peterson did not show. He later located in Delaware after he was indicted on federal charges.

A Nassau County grand jury indicted him on 28 counts on Oct. 30. He was charged with 10 counts of attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor, 10 counts of attempted endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of possessing a sexual performance of a child, two counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance of a child, two counts of promoting a sexual performance of a child and two counts of promoting obscene sexual performance of a child.

He arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
