DWI Charge for East End Man After Close Call With Cop

A North Fork man was arrested for drunken driving after he nearly collided head-on with a police car on Saturday night, Southold Town Police said. dwi-2-289x3001

Jon P. Viviano, 28, of Cutchogue, was driving his Subaru station wagon eastbound on Route 25 near the Port of Egypt Marina in Southold when he crossed the double-yellow line into oncoming traffic and caused a Southold police officer “to take evasive maneuvers in order to avoid a collision” at 10:37 p.m., police said in a statement.

Viviano was stopped shortly after when police say they found him to be drunk. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and other traffic violations.
