The Long Island Rail Road will replace trains with buses on parts of the Montauk Branch during most weekday mornings next week due to scheduled track maintenance.
Service on the line will be suspended for track inspections from 9:15 a.m. – noon Monday and Thursday. Trains will also be impacted Tuesday and Wednesday.
Crews will be using the Sperry Rail Car, which is fitted with ultrasonic and induction test equipment designed to detect internal rail defects not readily visible to the eye.
Workers will then fix any cracks found during the inspections.
Riders are urged to plan ahead and allow for up to 40 minutes additional travel time.
