Weisenberg, 76, is running for his 11th term after first winning his Assembly seat in a 1989 special election. This former Long Beach city police officer, city councilman and longtime educator champions people with disabilities, fighting against toxic seaweed and for the health of LI’s waterways. He sits on the environmental, banks, correction, education, transportation and mental health committees.
