When is Sweetest Day 2010? It’s today! Sweetest Day 2010 is today!
Sweetest Day is celebrated each year on the third Saturday in October, primarily in the northern part of the country.
OK, so then what is Sweetest Day?
Today, Sweetest Day is used to honor and show your love of people in your life whom you like. The idea is that, in addition to the many holidays we use to acknowledge those in our lives who are sick, poor, unfortunate or deceased, Sweetest Day would be a jovial celebration of those we love, who don’t necessarily need anything other than someone to say they appreciate them.
There are several stories behind the history of Sweetest Day. One says the holiday was started by Herbert Birch Kingston, a candy company employee. Another claims Sweetest Day was created by a dozen or so of the top candy makers in Cleveland, Ohio, who gave out boxes of candy to the less fortunate. Separately, candy manufacturers in New York City attempted to create a Sweetest Week, later settling for Sweetest Day.
Regardless, here’s the takeaway: Sweetest Day is an excuse to eat candy! What more do you need to know?!
