Jennifer Lopez New American Idol Judge: J.Lo Replaces Kara DioGuardi

by Samantha Batel on July 30, 2010

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly one of the new judges for American Idol, replacing Kara DioGuardi for a seat on the panel.

Jennifer Lopez is replacing Kara DioGuardi as an "American Idol" judge, reports say.

DioGuardi joined Idol in 2008 and is not under contract for next year. TMZ reports that a deal between Lopez and Fox is done, ousting DioGuardi for Jenny From the Block. DioGuardi, however, may only be able to hold onto her spot if this deal falls through.

This news comes in the wake of recent departures, including Ellen Degeneres this past Thursday and Simon Cowell in May. Degeneres, lasting only one season, was brought in to replace Paula Abdul.

With all of these changes, it looks as if the new Idol panel will come down to the original three-judge format. Lopez, Randy Jackson, and Steven Tyler will fill the slots.

Steven Tyler, frontman for Aerosmith, has reportedly not been confirmed as a definite judge. FOX is expected to make an announcement about the new ‘Idol’ panel during their presentation at the TCA conference on Monday.
