Suffolk County police are investigating an industrial accident in Coram that killed a man Friday afternoon, police said.
According to police, a man was driving a payloader at Premium Mulch & Materials Inc. on Mill Road around 3:19 p.m. when he was told that he struck an employee. The man stopped and called 911, police said.
A physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office pronounced the employee dead at the scene, police said. The man was later identified as 25-year-old Daniel Sturgis, police said.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified of the accident.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
