“What Makes You Beautiful” By The Piano Guys (Video)

The Piano Guys have reportedly taken on British boy band One Direction this week and have delighted fans of both with a new viral video.

The Piano Guys are best known for creating covers of classics with the piano workings and have been quoted as saying that their vision is “to create music and videos that inspire and uplift.” The group recently released a new video performance of a One Direction hit July 18.

In the video, the five guys used everything in the piano to cover the teen group’s debut hit “What Makes You Beautiful.” The song comes from One Direction’s first album.

The video has proven to be quite popular with more than a million views since first being posted. The popularity of the video is thanks in part to the song choice. One Direction has produced a slew of hit songs recently that have become favorites among fans worldwide.

For those who aren’t fans, One Direction is a teen group from the U.K. that consists of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. The group was signed to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco Records after their stint on The X Factor and then later signed with Columbia Records.

All members of One Direction tried out individually in 2010 for U.K. edition of The X Factor, where Cowell insisted they become one group. One Direction ultimately ended their run in third place but have since become a household name both in the U.K. and in the United States.

In 2011, the boy band released their first album, Up All Night, and became the first group from the U.K. to debut No. One with their first album. It also became the fastest-selling debut album in the U.K. Besides the hit, “What Makes You Beautiful,” the group is also known for hits such as “One Thing” and “Gotta Be You.”

Currently, the group is working on their second album, which is said to be set for a late 2012 release, and are preparing for a 2013 world tour.
