When some people tuned into Sportscenter Wednesday morning they were confused when they saw Vanilla Ice, of all people, on their screen. Vanilla Ice started trending on Twitter with many people asking why the 1990s actor was on ESPN.
One Twitter user said, “I wake up and see Vanilla Ice on SportsCenter. Where and when am I?” Another joked, “I’ll rather see a hologram of the chick new York from flavor of love than see vanilla ice on sports center.”
Some users couldn’t believe that the rapper was on the show. One Twitter user said, “Still trying to get over that Vanilla Ice on Sportscenter segment.”
If you were one of those people, don’t worry, you’re not losing your mind. You didn’t time travel back to the 1990s and the rapper and actor did appear on the show. He was on the show to promote the Adam Sandler movie, “That’s My Boy” which will be hitting theaters on Friday.
The Internet Movie Data Base describes the movie: “While still in his teens, Donny (Adam Sandler) fathered a son, Todd (Andy Samberg), and raised him as a single parent up until Todd’s 18th birthday. Now, after not seeing each other for years, Todd’s world comes crashing down.”
Vanilla Ice will be playing the best role he knows how to play, himself. In the movie he is Donny Berger’s brother, who is trying to find a way to pay off the IRS otherwise he’ll face jail time.
It was not too long ago that Vanilla Ice would threaten to punch anyone who mentioned “Ice Ice Baby” or his rapping career, but now he’s appearing as Vanilla Ice in a movie and on Sportscenter. Anyone think Rob Van Winkle is hurting for money?
