Riverhead Man Arrested for Woman’s Murder

Suffolk County police have arrested a man who they said killed a 29-year-old woman in Riverhead last week.

Homicide Squad detectives charged Guillermo Alfonso Alvarado-Ajcuc with second-degree murder.

Police said the 21-year-old Riverhead man killed Mirian Garcia of Flanders.

The woman’s body was found May 7 in the parking lot of a shopping center on Old Country Road.

Investigators quickly determined she was victim of a homicide but did not disclose how she was killed.

Alvarado-Ajcuc will be arraigned Thursday at Riverhead Town Justice Court.
