A hit-and-run driver killed a 21-year-old disabled motorist on the Long Island Expressway service road in Brentwood on Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said.
Kieran Smith of Kings Park was driving his Nissan east on the Long Island Expressway when his vehicle became disabled in Brentwood.
Smith left his vehicle and was walking on Express Drive South when he was apparently struck and killed by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene, police said.
A passing driver discovered Smith’s body on the shoulder and called 911 at 7:45 a.m., police said.
The Nissan was impounded and the investigation is continuing.
