Jones Beach Concert Calendar 2012 Taking Shape

by Timothy Bolger on March 14, 2012

Long Island Dave Matthews Band fans rejoice: DMB will play Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh this summer.

Fans of mega-jam band Phish, iconic classic rocker Neil Diamond and acoustic alt-rockers Dave Matthews Band will be pleased to learn that these and more than a dozen other big-name music acts are on the Jones Beach Theater concert calendar for the 2012 season.

A total of 16 dates have been slated at the venue overlooking Zach’s Bay, although the early announcements are just the first peak at what the line-up will eventually look like once it gets closer to Memorial Day.

Also in the early Jones Beach concert calendar line-up are ex-Beatle Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band, The Beach Boys, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, Def Leppard, Brad Paisley, Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, Cracker, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, Big Time Rush and Yanni, along with some other opening acts.

But just because it’s Spring hasn’t technically sprung yet doesn’t mean it’s too early to start planning for summer. Tickets for two of the concerts go on sale this week.

The pre-sale for the Def Leppard concert begins 10 a.m. Wednesday and tickets for the two Phish concerts—one of which falls on the Fourth of July—go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, both at ticketmaster.com

Phish joins DMB and Neil Diamond in being the first acts so far to be slated for two concert dates in Nikon at Jones Beach Theater. It will be Diamond’s first time playing the waterfront venue.
