The second of four victims slain in the Father’s Day massacre at a Medford pharmacy has filed a negligence claim against Suffolk County and its police department.
The wife of Raymond Ferguson Jr., the pharmacist shot to death during the robbery in June, filed the claim on Sept. 14.
Another claim by the family of victim Jamie Taccetta was filed on Sept. 16. Both families claim the county knew the shooter, David Laffer, was troubled and should have taken his gun away before he hurt someone.
Laffer pleaded guilty to the quadruple homicide and his wife pleaded guilty to robbery for driving the getaway car.
The two made off with a stash of prescription painkillers.
Ferguson’s wife, Viedya Quail Ferguson, is reportedly seeking $10 million in damages.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer has said there was no legal basis to take away Laffer’s guns.
